Pozdrav,
Sorry for english - but I am not serbian. I am modeler from Poland and I am building some models of serbian armor. I am polish and my language is close to your so I can understand more less what you are discussing on that forum.

I am going to build the model 1:72 scale of this machine:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/0/04/Vrs_t-55a.jpg

Do you know where to find any better picture of it?

I bought decals:
http://www.angelfire.com/pro/bison/72008.html
wherre they said that it was used in Kosovo 1990's. Is that true? On the reference web site (www.jed.simonides.org) given there is nothing there :-(

2. JNA green: I have heard that this color is close to Humbrol 102. In my opinion (after seeing hundreds of photos of JNA armor) that tamya xf-67 (nato green) + some white may fit even better. What you think?

3. My tank was painted with brown and black bloches sprayed on oryginal JNA green. What kind of brown you suggest?

Here is the link to the story of the assembling. Not much there at the moment but your help is vital:
http://modelwork.pl/viewtopic.php?t=6473

Hvala za vselku pomoc!

(and again: sorry sorry that this post is in english)

Hi
I’m not sure about that photo, but if I find something Ill post it!!!

1. Used in Kosovo 1990??? No, it was used in Kosovo 1999!!! (there is a difference in eng. between 1990’s (mining 90’s) and 1999 year)….
2. For JNA green you need to use Revell SM362 (you can add some white if you want to make it look older)
3. I’m not sure about brown…

PS: one more thing "Nevesinje" is in Bosnia, and that tank was from Bosnian Serb army or Republika Srpska army

Hvala za pomoc!
I am going to buy that revell paint. I was not sure about that humbrol

With Nevesinje - right. I also noticed that there is a town in Bosnja of that name. Since that I was a bit confused where this picture were taken: in Bosnia (as the name of the tank may suggest) or in Kosovo (1999 of course) as sugested by "bison decals". To clarify that is the most important thing - to put everything in the right context.

One more thing: on the left front mudguard there is something painted red. I don't know is it only an irregular line or some letters (?). I found one winter picture of serbian t-55 which has red letters LAW or PAW in cyrylic sprayed in that place.
Thanks a lot!

There is some Humbrol paint similar to this one, but Revell is better!!!

Tank on that photo is tank from Bosnian war (1992-1995) used by Bosnian Serb army (or RS army)!!!

Whole front of that tank is painted whit white and red colors… Serbs often liked to write CCCC, God protects Serbs (БОГ ЧУВА СРБЕ), Serbia (СРБИЈА) on their tanks…
Im not sure but that (on the left front mudguard) looks to me like СРБИЈА... it is better if you ask more ppl to take a look at it!!!

Hvala.

So it means that most probably that photo was taken in Bosnia. However, I found few pictures of the tanks with similar 3-color camo used in Kosovo.

Yes. The front seems to have more painting. One of white bloches is serbian emblem (according to decals).
Still, more photos are required. I will ask arround on that!

OK. I see is 1:35 must be nice anyway. I see that this type of camouflage will be not so easy. I made some forward over the weekend and soon I will update the web page.
To build one used in Kosovo will be even more interesting for me. Let me see those pictures. The pictures which I found showing the tank only from the front side and the turret from the back so even tactical number is not visible.

Well, your model looks very good. Just waiting for some finishing to make it closer to Kosovo reality. Good job! It is already very good model!

I started a discussion on militaryphotos.net as well. Up to now nothing new. I am going to browse trough video records available on the net. Maybe there will be something there?
Regarding to pictures from Kosovo: It is very nice alternative to "Nevesinje". However, there is not much about tactical number (e.g. the number is not visible on that tank figting in the snow).
I have not fully decided yet. Just continuing with the modelling and doing small investigation about painting schemes.

BTW: I am planning to build couple of models in the future and most of them will be from kosovo: M-84A, 2S1 Gvozdika, BRDM-2/SA-9 SAM, T-35/85 and some other, probably built from scratch like Praga M53/59 or some junks left in Kosovo (e.g. fake anti aircraft gun mounted on very old truck). A lot of intersting models to built. I will focus only on serbian ecquipment because my personal feelings.

As you can see on this photo, two soldiers (guy in middle is policeman) have similar colors on their uniforms as T-55…
I think you can make good combination by using JNA green + brown + black (+ light green if you want, but I’m not sure about that)!

PS: ill host photos of all my models on this forum so ppl can see and tell me what they think, you should do the same whit your models of JNA (VJ or Serbian army)!

Hi.
Thanks. 3 colors for sure but from various photos I see also this light JNA green.

"PS: ill host photos of all my models on this forum so ppl can see and tell me what they think, you should do the same whit your models of JNA (VJ or Serbian army)!"

I fully aggree. I will do the same as soon as my first model will be ready. And more is comming!

Cheers!
BTW: here is the link to the discussion about "Nevesinje":
http://www.militaryphotos.net/forums/showthread.php?p=3106316#post3106316

I am also experimenting with some software to increase the resolution of the photos. Since the model is still under construction I would like to check how far I can go with that "Nevesinje" tank.
But I am sure that my M-84A will be from Kosovo :-). I already bought one from ACE + photo-etched tracks, metall barell and towing cable. This gue is next in the cue.
Cheers!

Right. I forgot that you are doing 1:35. I am thinking in 1:72 since many years when I started to asemble aircrafts.
Well. The asembling T-55 is going slowly since the model is rather low quality. I have to make few things by myself. If you want to know current status just go to modelwork.pl: http://modelwork.pl/viewtopic.php?t=6473
I know that it is in polish but from the pictures you will know more less where I am. As soon as it will be ready I will present the model here!

BTW: I found some ideas about dioramas and I would kike to ask you something. I know that it mught be guite sensitive issue so forgive my stupidity:
In Kosovo, when KFOR troops appear there were some germans as well. I can imagine how they were seen by serbs (e.g. if they will come to poland then nobody will be seen they as the peace-keepers but as invadors!). I was trying to find some evidence about the evens when germans were at least temporarly "captured" or just frighten by serbian troops. I saw the pictures of "Zaplenjeni HUMMER" (BTW: I will build the model as well!!!) so it might be that such events may theoretically happened. I would like to build a small diorama of such situations where germans surrounding in front of e.g. M-84? Byt I need the evidence that such situations happened in reality... Sorry if it is a stupid question...

Hvala.

German troops are forbidden to enter 3 countries buy some agreement after WWII, these countries are Russia, Serbia and Poland (I think)… because of what they did to “us” in WWII… But if USA gives them all clear and rest is history…
Our boys where waiting for then on Kosovo for 78 days, NATO and US bombed Serbian for 78 days and managed to destroy no more then 10 tanks, IFV and armored transporters… If they went for ground invasion, they would have a lot of battles to fight just to enter Kosovo, but it was easer to destroy Serbian industry, economy and kill civilians then to fight our army…
I’m sorry but there was no situation of German troop’s surrendering to M-84, but there is possibility of M-84 looking at NATO troops, or passing by Leopard (or Challenger or Abrams) tanks…

This is from movie War for Kosovo (Rat za Kosovo) that I posted link to on this forum, it lasts for some 2h and would be boring for you to watch all because its in Serbian, but if you can pz take a look at last 9min of it.
It shows Serbian army (15th armored brigade ) withdraw from Kosovo!!

I know that. And probably some of that 10 were destroyed by landmines and albanians. I saw the reports.

Right. Then they will end up into real troubles sice even F-117 was not "invisible"

I saw that picture. I was thinking about any incidents with "peacekeepers" (KFOR etc.). I saw the story about captured hummer:
http://oklop2.tripod.com/hummer.htm

Somehow they did that. I was looking for any incident like that.

I have checked that part - very good reference. I will watch entire movie as well. Serbian will not be a problem - still I am able to understand something. My language is from the same familly and I was learning russian for many years...

It was taken during Bosnian war, somewhere between 1992 -1995. At place called Nevesinje (that is also a tanks name)... That tank was part of Bosnian Serb army (or VRS for short) …
